Bud Abbott: The Forgotten Funnyman

A Sal St. George Lecture

*The video above is only an excerpt from the entire program.

In their quarter century together, the popular comedy team of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello successfully conquered vaudeville, burlesque, Broadway, nightclubs, radio, movies and television.

After the untimely death of his comedy partner, Bud Abbott retired to his home in Woodland Hills, California. In 1972 Sal St. George had the good fortune of meeting Bud and Betty, his wife of 55 years, in their modest home.

During their conversation, Bud reminisced about his life in show business, how he met Lou, his financial difficulties with the government, why the team split and his perspective of why Abbott and Costello continue to be one of America’s most beloved comedy teams.

Sal recently rediscovered the long-lost audio tape of that historic encounter. Now for the first time in 40 years, you will be able to HEAR Bud Abbott’s voice during his last interview. This is a lively, informative and, yes, funny, stage event for Abbott and Costello fans to enjoy.
